James Withey is the creator & founder of The Recovery Letters, a project which aims to support those suffering from depression. This is achieved through open letters from people who have recovered from depression.
Having spent most of my morning reading the letters, I think this could be a useful tool in helping young people. the letters are often under 1000 words and the language used compels one to continue reading.
In my experience, teenagers find it difficult to talk about a number of topics. I can’t imagine how tough it must be for them to speak to someone, anyone about depression, even if they are surrounded with by supporting adults.
Can anybody tell us about their experiences with depression? How have you helped a student, peer, colleague, family member or friend?
