    When they say that someone’s abuse experience is ‘historic’, you risk them feeling dismissed and isolated about an issue that is already isolating to begin with. There’s no time limit for expecting a just response, and disclosing abuse is tremendously hard at any age.

    When they say that abuse is a ‘scandal’ because the perpetrator is a celebrity, it implies that abuse committed by ‘ordinary’ perpetrators are less scandalous.

    Let’s ensure the way we talk about CSE supports survivors and aligns itself with the child’s point of view as much as possible.
